Here’s what’s new this week as we build Future Proof PT in public:
We provided a short clip of a sound bite before the beginning of the episode overlayed by music. The clip went well, but we are still tinkering with the volumes of the music vs. the voices.
We edited more of the recording out in an attempt to distill the content down to what’s most valuable.
We are learning to produce our own episodes from scratch using Riverside. Our learning curve continues!

About the episode 👇️
What if physical therapists could serve as primary care providers for musculoskeletal conditions—delivering faster, safer, and more cost-effective care? That’s one of the topics we explore in Episode 7 of the podcast.
Another focus of this episode is introducing you to TEAM — the CMMI Transforming Episode Accountability Model that begins January 1, 2026 in 740 hospitals across the country. We cover the potential impact of TEAM on hospital systems and downstream effects on clinical communities. We also cover the implications for hospitals and their care teams.
We also break down:
How PTs effectively manage MSK conditions with expert assessment and conservative interventions, learning from existing models and ranking safety profiles.
The military’s success in reducing opioid use and adverse events through PT-led care.
Challenges, including scope-of-practice limitations, integration barriers, and regulatory constraints.
The military’s experience offers a compelling case study in expanding the role of PTs in primary care. While the model presents significant benefits, we also discuss what it would take to implement it beyond the military setting.
Coming up next…
We bring our first guest into the Future Proof PT recording studio for Episode 8!
